Applying for 1 position as Teaching Couple?

Now that next year's positions are starting to trickle out... there is a (tentative) opening that I'm interested in. Do I introduce myself as part of a teaching couple? Mention the spouse? Or do I not mention it until they ask?

Apply individually, but note your teaching spouse in the cover letter.
Your spouse cant apply for a position that doesnt exist, and you dont want to convey the message that the school must hire both of you, unless your unwilling to have a trailing spouse.
