Shipping Personal Items from China to Thailand. Suggestions?

Post by Helen Back »

Any thoughts on shipping companies from China to Thailand? We used Allied Pickfords years ago and it cost a fortune. Another time we palletized our own stuff in the shipper's yard, which was way cheaper. Not sure we can do that from our current location.

We need recommendations for reasonably priced shippers. Ideally we'd like to box the stuff ourselves and create the packing list, then have the shipping company collect the boxes from our apartment. We're probably looking at around 2CBM or one pallets worth. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Try Cathay Pacific Cargo. They shipped our stuff around, in conjunction with another airline and we were happy. if they can't help you, ask them to recommend a good company that just picks up and consolidates.

I would try the shipper you went with for your second relocation. They may be able to do so again at refer you to another shipper that can.

When we moved to Thailand from China we just shipped everything via the post office. China has some insanely stupid rules regarding shipping. We could only ship 2 boxes every 2 weeks, and no electronics. But it was very cheap.

A colleague of mine used FedEx. More expensive but they come to your house and box everything up.

Most companies will not insure your stuff against loss/damange if you pack it yourself--for a couple companies we looked at during moves, that included situations like the container falling off the boat--a loss that would have nothing to do with our packing our own stuff.

We used King's when we left China and were very happy with them.
