School visit
If we were going on a trip anyway this summer, and there happened to be a school that we were interested in in the area, would it be weird to contact the school and ask for a tour and a meeting with the Principal?
If the admin felt you were strong candidates they may entertain this type of meeting, but if it is summertime the admin team would be on vacation as well. Visiting a friend that is on faculty at a school and meeting the admin informally that way happens often enough, but of course we don't always have friends where we want to work.

Well you could ask, but there is very likely not going to be anyone there, and the leadership team is likely to be gone. The school facilities may also be undergoing maintenance, so there might not be anything to really see. There is likely to be someone who would get back to you such as a member of the office staff who could show you the school, since students/parents do tour during the summer. You could visit under that pretense of being a perspective student. An interview isnt very likely to happen, and even then a school isnt likely to have vacancies over the summer.
