It's expensive, but I'll have my kid with me, so it's worth the $150 to have him in the same building with me. I'm also relishing the chance to freshen up, take a nap, change clothes, etc.
I will be in similar situation....

Hello Zan,

I am wondering is surrounding hotels are close enough to go back and forth. The host hotel is always fairly high.

Bangkok ISS 2014 who's going?

Hi all just wanted to know if many will be attending the ISS Bangkok fair? I'm thinking of attending since registration is still open. However they always host this event at pricier hotels. Who will be staying at host hotel and who will stay near by? What are the near by hotels?
Psychbean,

it might also be that more offers are going out in those hard-to-hire areas of math and science, or the candidates possess some qualifications experience that make the school jump now rather than wait.

It could also be that the new director hates recruiting fairs and so does it early...
Hi Shadowjack,

You are always a pleasant and positive poster! I am watching these positions getting snapped up one by one. I have a friend SEN teacher sent off her resume to a school sunday, the director said he would get back to her in 2 weeks when contracts came back. This school is also attending all fairs.. So I just guess you never know. I am feeling the pressure of not going to fairs and while I have been successful not going.. I just wonder, what if... Ah well such is life.

Wow, I totally understand that. I also agree. Send your best offers now and let us decide what is the best choice. We can not have it all... It is nice to wish for it all though.

Best of luck to you in making your decision.

Hiring early in the season

Hello All,

Just reading through the posts and noticing that more than a few schools are hiring early. I would see a job in Nov and here it is early Dec. and the posting is filled. I keep reading that schools will interview and possibly not decide until later in the hiring season just to get the best applicants. But from observations there is a good deal of hiring going on...

So it is a bit unnerving where I thought there is plenty of time in the hiring season... I am now I am wondering if I should be a bit nervous... Ugh this hiring season is so nerve racking!

I did get a chuckle out of this one. I use to get all annoyed and a host of other emotions. Now I apply, sometimes we have dialogue and sometimes we do not. I just go on about life and sometimes an offer will appear and sometimes it will not.

Recruiting season is sheer madness!

Concordia International School Shanghai any info please?

Hello All,

Just wondering about the cost of living in Shanghai and how the work life balance is at this school. Also how is it for American kids at this school will they integrate well or not? How is the school? Are employees happy and how is the turn over rate? Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

Also on their website they mentioned early decision bonus? Do they pay for you to tell them you are coming back or not or just if you are returning?

Hmm..

I think I have also had minimal contact with my associate... But then again I haven't been to any SEARCH fairs and was guided to one that I didn't want to go to (canada), then I found a job on my own. I am happy with SEARCH though, I am more interested in the database more than anything else. Also having schools have access to my credentials. I don't worry too much about my associate. I can say the service was well worth what ever fee I paid!

Do the associates help or guide you at the fairs?
