The first 2 years in Germany are tax free. After that it gets murky. It used to be that if you stayed past the 2 years not only do you have to start paying taxes, you would have to pay BACK taxes from your initial 2 years. We were told that the BACK taxes no longer have to be paid, but that is now being challenged. Regardless, the first 2 years are tax free.

Counselors and IB schools?

I know that many of the top int'l schools are looking for people with IB experience. I am a counselor and am curious how that relates to counseling positions. Obviously, counseling is different than teaching and there is no "IB counselor certification". I have not worked at an IB school. but have 5 yrs experience at a top int'l school where I learned a lot about the IB system in relation to my job. Anyone have some insight on this?

Thanks!

Bangkok quality of life?

I am considering applying for a job at NIST in Bangkok. I have a wife and infant and am looking for people's experience there as far as safety, health, housing, etc.

we have only lived in the U.S. and Western Europe. We are up for some adventure, and I know nowhere is perfectly safe, but is Bangkok a city you would feel comfortable bringing your family?

Insights into other Asian locations also welcome.

Thanks in advance!
