Azerbaijan

Hey International Teaching Wanderers....

Anyone have current information on the international schools in Azerbaijan? I've already read about the QSI school (on here) and it gets bad reviews, so no need to mention that one again, I won't be contacting them!

ISS has current vacancies for a school called The European Azerbaijan School. I can't find reviews on it, so I'm looking for anyone who could shed some light on it. The pay package seems good, but is it?

There is another school there called The International School of Azerbaijan that looks like a top notch place. Again, it lacks reviews.

Also, my husband and I are both wondering about how safe it is to live/travel there.

Thank you!

@pikefish, sounds like you have some interesting perspectives. I'm a teacher that also runs a small business and has had some success with art commissions and exhibitions. So, you're saying, that is something recruiters look for?!

hmm....Ok, thanks. I had a one year contract at a school in Japan, and that was the total length of the contract. They asked me to renew, but I didn't. Then I had a 2 year contract that I only stayed a year for. That's it. So now schools are looking for four years international experience?! Ouch. How do you get it if you don't have it?!

in demand certifications and IB experience

Hey,

I am certified k-9 in the States with endorsements in bilingual education, middle grades, art, social sciences, Spanish and gifted and talented. I have 16 years of elementary experience and have had two international contracts (though I had to break one after the first year due to health issues). I read someone write that he had "the in demand certifications and IB experience" and I thought "oh shit!" I don't have that! So, what are the "in demand certifications?"

Thanks!

go to the blog and then look on the right hand side under special topics. there's one called best and worst, but the information from almost all of the postings seems to be old, and I can't figure out how to make a post. Anyway, seems like it ought to be a hot topic of interest to people....where they can get a good contract.

Zurich International School

I was recently browsing the "best and worst contracts" section of the blog, but noticed the posts are from several years ago (why isn't there more current information?!) Anyway, I'm looking for any current information on the Zurich International School.

Thanks!
