Maternity leave (Malaysia and more generally)

Does anybody know how maternity leave works in Malaysia? Does it vary school by school? Are women ever exempt from having paid maternity leave if they haven’t been at a school long enough, in an international school setting?

I worked at a high ranking school in KL and got 3 months maternity (full pay). My contract was that they would offer that as long as you weren’t more than 5 months pregnant when starting with the school. Other teachers were able to negotiate 6 months (3 unpaid) but this was generally if they were renewing contract (I wasn’t).
