I previously taught IB Math overseas, but have since been teaching back in NA for the past 6 years. Is there a point where the length of time away from IB costs me the competitive advantage I may have had when I was fresh off the IB experience?

Have you not been teaching IB math back in North America? The edge diminishes as your experience gets older and dated. At about 5 years of absence you still have a minor edge, which is still much better then no IB experience at all.
