Situation in China
Re: Situation in China
Apparently, the v i r u s is spreading far and wide. I see more school closures abroad and an increasing number of them offering remote teaching. Brace for it, folks. The WHO screwed up big time.

Agreed on both counts. That Ethiopian guy needs to resign. He's been a total disgrace in his position, only exacerbating the situation with terrible advice, and is such a brown noser for the CCP. Absolutely terrible job.

Have you even talked to the new IS? Go to them and say look, my current IS isnt paying me, and honoring the contract, if I left how would that effect my job with you coming up. How they respond might also give you some indication of what youre walking into. If they support that its okay for an IS to breach contract not pay staff, whats that say about going to work for them?

Looking ahead to August this year, how likely do you all think it is that schools in China will need to reduce staff for financial reasons? I know it's crystal ball stuff, but interested in your opinions.
Re: Situation in China
I think our school might shed some of the grade level sections in elementary.

We have a few openings left to fill and interest is picking up for them - from people currently in China.

We're in Thailand. When we went home for the weekend yesterday it felt like the last day of term. I'm not saying school will be cancelled on Monday, but cancellation does feel like it's coming. I'm feeling the authorities might tie it up with Songkran holidays to minimize the impact.

Zero once the Wuhan . passes and everyones back at ISs. Where the problem is going to be is if there is a partial return to classes where some cities open and some dont or students that have left dont return thus opening seats at higher tier ISs allowing students to move up. Thats going to impact bottom and lower tier ISs the most. If theres paying parents though and the IS has infrastructural capacity, they will staff.
