Etiquette Question
Etiquette Question
I applied for a middle school position at a top (by my standards) school at the beginning of the month. The middle school principal contacted me within 4 days to set up an interview and then scheduled me with a follow-up the same week with the Department Head. I have reason to think both went well, but according to a current faculty member, they are notorious for taking their time to give decisions. The same school now has a high school position also matching one of my areas of certification. Would it be seen as a faux pas if I also applied to this position (it was not posted when I originally applied)? The application would go to a different principal, but I am not sure if there is a protocol for this kind of situation.

Re: Etiquette Question
I don't know that there is any standard or correct protocol. As with many things at the in't school level what is heresy at one school is time-honored tradition at another. As has been posted, by all means apply if you are so inclined.
You might want to send out an email to the admin that you interviewed with to check on the outcome of the other position to let them know you are still interested and what you intentions are towards the other position and/or mention the situation in your email/cover letter for the 2nd position. Or you might not. No telling really what someone might appreciate or resent.

Thanks. I'm going to go ahead and take my chances.
