Asking the Interviewer questions in return

Post by HereThereEverywhere »

I always encounter this when interviewing. We run through the usual questions, maybe a few unusual ones, and towards the end of an interview the person will ask, is there anything that you would like to ask us?
I'm always a bit stumped by this one. Pretty much what I want to know I've gathered information on already or they have told me in the interview, but I always feel like there should be some deeper answer here or a response I just can't think of.

Have any of you fielded this questions well? What would be things that you ask the interviewer?

I always have actual questions, but you should have a couple canned generic questions that relate to "fit". Ask a question or two about the recruiter (they LOVE talking about themselves). Questions like:

1) "How would you describe your leadership/management style?"
2) "What aspirations do you have for the IS in the next X years?"
3) "What was your greatest challenge adapting to the culture when you arrived?"
