Sorry one more question: I have a note in the Qualifications section for Elementary Spanish. Whoever is evaluating it "SR" asked me to go and change the date of availability for this coming school year. I can't do that though because I missed the deadline by a few days. Thoughts? I tried emailing them, but not sure if that will get me anywhere.

Someone at HR will fix it for you. Elementary Spanish is a new program for this coming school year.

"SR" is the initials of the credential specialist who reviewed your transcripts. Give HR a call and someone will fix it for you. Your application is already active, since someones reviews it and determined your qualified.

@WeDoDude

Sorry your information is outdated. HR doesnt do the selection process anymore as of last year. The old give us three candidates and we will pick one (maybe) doesnt happen any more. Principals now do their own hiring directly. HR (credentialing) just determines if your qualified. The referral lists are now generated by principals and not HR anymore. Your application now goes live in 48 hours (if not sooner).

I'm going to continue commenting and responding to issues I do know about, this happens to be one of them.

PsyGuy, do you read full posts? That's exactly what I've been saying. Admin selects you, sends your name to HR, who in return look at your transcripts and credential to determine if you are qualified for the position. Not everyone makes it out of this with the job. This school year it took 3 tries to get a math position hired here.

And your info is wrong. HR sends the names of qualified candidates to principals. There is nothing high tech about the way DoDEA does anything. Admin login to a site that has been feed by HR from a request by school admin for a position. Admin do not have access to the hiring pool year round. It opens only when HR has populated the fields for a specific opening.

His app is not active. It doesn't work like that. HR does not work fast at anything. I would also suggest not calling. HR doesn't give you a phone number to call them on your application for a reason. I would simply email them and it may, or may not get fixed.

You don't know as much about DoDEA as you think you do. Your info has been wrong more than you have been right. You are giving false and misleading info. Unless you have worked recently, or are working for DoDEA currently you really do not have a clue as to what/how this organization functions. Please stop giving people advice in this thread. It's not cool and you aren't helping them by misleading them.

WeDoDude: On my online application it says I'm not qualified for any subject including history, which I have a master's degree in. Have I been marked unqualified because I don't have a teaching license attached? I just graduated and my license is pending with the state. Will my application still be available to principals for their review even with it marked as unqualified?

PsyGuy: PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO MY QUESTIONS.

In order for you to be placed into the hiring pool you must send DoDEA all attachables. This includes transcripts, and a teaching license from one of the 50 states. Until you have provided these items DoDEA will not forward your profile onto any principal. As soon as you receive your state teaching license, scan it and attach it to your application.

I just finished a post bac licensure only program in special education for General Curriculum K-12 in the state of North Carolina...have several years of experience as a teaching assistant in special education.... I'm waiting on my Praxis Scores... I already have a BA degree in History..is this enough to get me qualified for a special ed position in DODEA? Im 44 years old and would love to work overseas..... with no experience as a licensed professional as of yet.. do I realistically have any chance of getting hired for a job?

My transcripts are all attached but it seems as if they didn't even look at them. It does say attach as one file but that is impossible due to the size limit of pdf files.

I attached a letter from my university stating my license is pending which is what the site says to do.

I read full posts. A principal no longer has to send three candidates for credetntialing, they only need to send the one candidate they want. You only need to upload your teaching transcript to be activated. DODEA no longer checks transcripts until there is a need to do so (they adapted the prior DDESS process). HR no longer creates referal lists, they still can but last year the new online tool allows principals to do there own searches, including checking transcripts, and credentials, as well as other supporting documents with an online search application. HR doesn't do it any more. Admins have access to the hiring pool year round, they just can't submit a candidate for selection at certain times of the year. The OPs application is active.

I've actually been right in every scenario on this thread, and your information is outdated and misleading.

@dutchschultz

They won't review your transcripts until there is a need too. You should attach your transcripts as one file but if it's impossile to do so (such as with mine) you can break them up. You don't NEED a teaching license to teach, you need subject specific credit hours and professional education course work. This was implemented to allow those in the service who could take college classes but didn't have access to an educator training program, to still be considered for teaching positions. DODEA HQ doesn't forward referral lists anymore. A principal can see your profile, as it is now, but they will see that your unqualified. Having a masters alone won't be enough to consider you qualified, you need not just enough credit hours but the right courses as well. For social studies you need political science and geography (I'm sure you have the american and world history courses). You could have a Ph.D in history and without those courses you woudnt be considered qualified.

@jont

Do You have 30 credit hours in special education? If your certified you only need half so 15 hours, but there is some disagreement if the 50% rule applies when it comes to "educational support" areas, of which the various special education fields fall under. If you actually get "qualified" in SPED, you have a decent chance of getting hired for a DoDDS position, its in very high demand. Otherwise in general there are about 750 applicants for any one vacancy, and most of them have years of experience and advance degrees. In addition DoDDS is shrinking this year and in the next couple of years ahead, it may recover, but in general your chances of a position (outside SPED) are almost zero.

Oh wow! Wow, oh wow! How do you live with yourself man? You just gave Dutch completely wrong info. The only way he would qualify to teach in DoDEA without a state license is if he were in the Troops to Teachers program. I'm thinking that's not the case for him. I also have never said that admin send up 3 names. You've been wrong on every account. You haven't give any truthful, or accurate information. And to be honest I think you're just making things up as you go along.

How do you sleep at night knowing that you aren't being truthful to people that are making life changing decisions? That's so completely wrong.

Yes PsyGuy, we're shrinking, absolutely. Shrinking so much that we're building new schools in Europe, Korea, Japan, Okinawa and Guam. Yep, that's us, the ever shrinking DoDEA. We're just wasting MILCON money to build all these fancy new 21st century schools because we know we'll never have any students to fill their halls, or teachers to bring their worksheets to life in them.

I heard Denmark is shrinking also. Something about Sweden invading them, or something...

@WeDoDude

Being right i sleep very well, I'll make this easy, please consult the following:

http://www.dodea.edu/offices/hr/onlinea ... ements.htm

Please pay particular attention to items 4 & 5, no where does it specifically state that a teaching certificate is required. Notice in item 7 "In LIEU of meeting the DoDDS minimum qualifications, applicants may be considered and hired based on a valid state or territory certificate or license in the subject area for which applying.", if you wish i can provide a source if you need a definition for "in lieu of".

You are not REQUIRED to have a teaching certificate to qualify for a DoDDS credential.

I havent been "wrong" on a single issue. At worst we disagree on our opinions of DoDDS expansion shrinking. Mainly, being that you count "future" predicted growth as actual growth. Simply, the new schools that you refer too arent currently staffed, and "building" isnt the same as "built". You dont know what may or may not happen with them until it happens, unless you have a crystal ball, with very good clarity. Your counting predicted growth as actual growth. You have "potential" schools with potential teacher vacancies. To give you an anlogy, eggs are not chickens.

Secondly, you count a lot of growth in stateside schools, but these are DDESS schools not DoDDS schools.

If you'd like I can provide a Comprehension lesson for you. It still states that you need a valid state, or territory, certificate, or license in the subject area that you are teaching. A valid license, or certificate. In other words, you need to be licensed to teach. We do not accept non-licensed teachers. Furthermore we also do not hire teachers without at least 2 years of full-time teaching experience.

Thank you for proving yourself wrong yet again. Sleep well.
