Impossible for Male trailing spouse

Anyone have knowledge and experience of this topic please?!
Is it impossible for my husband to get a visa to live in Brunei? I have a good chance of securing a great position but it would depend on whether he could get a visa. He won't need a job as such, his job will be a full time carer of our baby son. Thanks.

I can't respond about Brunei specifically, but this is fairly common in the Middle East. Depending on his skills, you could always ask the school if they could hire him for part-time office work, as a sub, etc. so that they could sponsor a visa for him as well.

It shouldn't be a problem. I knew several male trailing spouses whose partners taught at one of the international schools or with CfBT. Some eventually gained employment themselves. However, things change so it's best to ask the school where you're applying. Having a trailing spouse shouldn't preclude you from being considered for the job on immigration grounds, but it might on cost to the school.

Talk to your IS, an IS can make a lot of things happen if they want to expend the resources to do it. If they wont assist or sponsor a visa then they really dont want you.

I have recent experience with this. You have it backward - they won't assist with the trailing male spouse issue very much unless they REALLY want you.
@Thomas2711: Be prepared to negotiate hard on things like flight allowance for a trailing spouse - despite the fact that there's no government bureaucracy that says that that, specifically, isn't allowed.
