'certification' for Australian teachers

Many school require that teachers have teaching qualifications and 'are certified'.

Australia doesn't really have a 'certification' system, although there is now a registration system.

We left Australia before this system was introduced, so my husband wasn't registered. I have gained my qualifications since being abroad (through Australian universities but online) and therefore I also don't have certification.

We have both been employed without this being a problem BUT I am concerned that it might be a problem in the future depending upon the visa requirements of the country or the attitude of the school.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

And does anyone know how an Aussie can get 'certified' while overseas?

Thanks in advance!

Registration is the credentialing and licensing system in AUS.

What do you have now? We need some more background to advise you accurately. Did you complete an ITE program? Do you have education degrees? Did you ever teach in AUS?
