That might be true in the states but schools in Europe (Germany in particular) routinely ask for information on accompanying dependents on their own applications (and of course Search requires it).

While this is true in the States as well, it is true in WE as well. One does not need to register with SA to obtain an appointment.

PsyGuy - pretty much every contract I have signed internationally has listed my hiring status on it and listed the benefits I would receive based on that status. Typical boilerplate, but it would stand up in a court. I suspect the same in Europe - most schools are not dummies and it is cheap to pay to have such a contract form developed.
