ISB International School of Beijing
Curently considering a contract at the International School of Beijing (ISB). Wondering if anyone has any comments regarding the school atmosphere, salary and living conditions?

I worked at a different school in Beijing so can't say too much.
However, from what I do know, ISB teachers were the best paid in Beijing with the best package as well. Generous PD, good housing close to the school- though does look a bit like the Truman(sp?) show.
The school is massive, looks great and has lots of cash. All the teachers I met from there seemed happy enough
However, problems with management. Some kind of conflict with the board and the Head led to him being escorted off the premises (in 2005). New management now.
Also seems to be a very 'American' place (I am not American!)
Would I take a job there?

I have worked at ISB for the past year and it is great... you can choose your housing from all over Beijing, the kids are excellent, the facilities wonderful, the package very pleasing and working here is not a problem. This is not to say that there are not glitches and hiccups but that happens at any school... If you have been offerred a contract ... sign it.
