teaching couple but different credentials

Post by mathgym »

What are the chances of getting a job when one person in the couple has a teaching credential, MA in education and no overseas experience and the other person has BA, Graduate work, overseas teaching experience, TESOL, but no teaching credential?
I know that non-credentialed teachers is a touch subject for some, sorry ahead of time.
Where would we be able to get a job? Would we even be able to? We are going to a job fair this winter. How should we deal with our situation during the interviews?

Thanks

You should be able to find jobs no problem. Be upfron with the interviewers and contact schools you are interested in before hand. Make sure that they are aware -but also provide ample evidence of your non-credentialed spouse's teaching experience.

You might also consider registring with ISS or Search next time - they will be able to hook you up and give you a good overview of expectations (and yes, they would likely take you on as clients)
