Living in new countries and regions, with perhaps new and exciting activities and languages, affords many of us to pick up new ways to spend our time.

What new activities/hobbies/languages have you picked up as a result of living in a new country/culture/region?

I have taken the opportunity to really get into running.

I was always a runner, but the safety, infrastructure, beauty and variety of where I live now means I can really indulge myself in a way that other locations didn't allow for.

This is both in personal training and also in mass organised events.

Oh, and skiing!

An easy train ride to great slopes. Plus with the school as well.

Picked up and retained, or just passing interest that faded or vanished upon departure?

The first list is shorter so mine would be backpack traveling, mahjong, and origami. Backpack traveling through the US is depressingly boring, all Americans are the same as are all American cities. Mahjong I picked up in China and is my preferred lite stakes table game as its more social. Origami is my fidget spinner activity during meetings.
