Yesterday my husband said "Chiang Mai is like the Austin* of Thailand." I thought this was a great comparison. What else you got?
*Austin of legend, from the 90s. Not the corporatized version it's become.

They call Dubai the Las Vegas of the Mid East.

London is the NYC of Europe
Macau is the Las Vegas of Asia
Chiang Mai is the Palm Beach of Asia
