Converting Provisional License to Standard While Abroad.

Post by ELVIP »

Hello,

I just recently obtained a provisional teaching license from the state of Hawaii. However, I am looking to teach internationally. The license is only valid for three years and is non-renewable. The problem I am facing is how am I to transition to the standard license while abroad since Hawaii requires at least three years of teaching experience stateside. I ask them if international experience counts, and they said it did not. I feel like I have no other choice to teach in the states for three years before moving internationally. I tried looking at transferring my license to another state, but it seems all these other states require experience in-country as well.

If anyone has any experience or knowledge of dealing with this type of issue, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How did you qualify for the HI Provisional credential? You must have either completed an EPP/ITT program or already had a credential.
