Jesus the ridiculous nonsense of a certain KIA here is unnerving.

Here are the facts.
1. All IT's in China are Z visa holders.
2. Z visa holders are absolutely, unequivocally, not allowed into China right now.
3. It does not matter if the IT is somehow considered "exceptional". That is absolute and utter nonsense blown out someone's butt.

I work very closely with human resources. The parent company of our school is a very valuable and respected organization not even related to education. We work hand-in-hand with immigration authorities and are here, on the ground sifting through the information as it becomes available. If it were possible for an "exceptional" IT to get in, we would know.

To reiterate, the FACT is, not one single IT has or will be allowed into China until the travel ban is lifted. Plain and simple.

Anything else written about this, unless you work for the government in China, is pure conjecture and speculation.

Not that anyone of us knows anything for sure, but anyone want to place over/under bets on my speculative date China will re-open its borders -- September 15th, 2020.

The new rumor going around is that China will not issue new Z visas until December 2021.

@TheHuman I know you said it’s just rumors, but any more context on where those rumors are coming from?

What do you all think is going to happen to schools that cannot get new hires in the country until December and cannot get returning staff that is stuck back until mid September? Our school in Shanghai is already opening now.

I think the border could open as early as July (maybe even June). Of course it’s speculation. Beijing lifted its quarantine for domestic travelers and they are already starting to fast track special business visas for people from South Korea and Singapore. These seem like good signs.

I heard it from several teachers who are in China now who heard it from someone they know that has ties with an immigration official.

The only place this has come from is a post on the Shanghai Reddit page from someone claiming to have heard it from a friend who works in the Chinese foreign affairs department - this has now been deleted. Not exactly the most reliable source.

I think it's pretty fair to say that unless it's written on a website which comes from the Chinese government - I would take any opening date for visas with a grain of salt.

China will do whatever it wants to do in it's own time

@wt2015

Yeah I know the feeling.

No, not all ITs are Z visa holders, there are those with Q visas for example.
No, Z visa hoers ARE allowed in china if they are essential and exceptional. Thats the regulation, your opinion is just that an opinion, that no one has or could qualify.
No, it absolutely does matter thats the regulation, and its your opinion thats coming out of a posterior orifice.

Apparently your company is not valued or respected enough.Your one organization human resource department is not an authority in determining Chinese immigration, they are not an immigration authority, they are an office. It is possible, thats the regulation. What you know or claim to know is immaterial.

To summarize your OPINIONS are not FACTS. What is a FACT is that an IT may or could enter China after procuring an entry license and demonstrating an exceptional and essential need. That is the plain and simple regulatory fact (large letters not required).

@t_rock

I could see Septemberish.

@FV2020

They will hire local if they can physically open and supplement that with virtual instruction.
