Schrole Application, but Going to Search Bangkok

Post by Helen Back »

I just applied for a job through Schrole, not thinking I should really have applied through Search. I mentioned that I would be attending the Bangkok Search fair.

Have I just shot myself in the foot? How would this application go forward with two recruiters involved? What's the etiquette here?

It happens all the time. Schools advertise in multiple places, and you can apply however.
I can’t quite understand which aspect worries you. Can you please clarify?

Best case, you might get lucky and get hired after a couple of Skype interviews. Worst case, you might attend a fair. I'd n't worry.

I guess I'm just wondering who gets paid in these circumstances, Schrole or Search?

I was thinking the school might find the situation complicated and prefer to hire a Schrole candidate at an ISS fair or a Search candidate at a Search fair.

I guess not. Thanks for the input.

Assuming the teacher is someone the school would be interested in hiring regardless of platform, hiring that person through Schrole is preferable, as it's a fixed cost for them. Search charges per candidate, and their rules around this have become increasingly draconian. (It's at the point that they levy the recruitment charge regardless of how the person was hired if the school simply viewed their search profile.)

That being said, the challenge is that the Search fair is still generally favored by a lot of schools.

You may have not doomed your application (you may not have), but a SA hire is more expensive, if they are really concerned or prioritize coin then you may find yourself further down the long list.

When I RSVP to a fair, I certainly make it my business to come!
