Educational leadership theorists to study?

Post by DomeVet »

Can anyone recommend any of the educational leadership theorists below for a short study that would be beneficial to working in administration in international schools? Or, can anyone recommend a theorist not on the list below?

Warren Bennis
Patrick Duignan
Richard Elmore
Michael Fullan
Paulo Frere
Thomas Groome
Andy Hargreaves
Ron Heifetz
George Couros
Robert Marzano
Father James Mulligan
Douglas Reeves
Thomas Sergiovanni
Margaret Wheatley
Vivian Robinson

Fullan and Hargreaves worth studying, but Couros doesn't sound authentic.

It depends what your trying to accomplish out of it. Father James Mulligan would be appropriate if your trying to move into Christian IS leadership. Vivian Robinson is the new progressive approach. Michael Fullan is kind of pop.ed in the field of change dynamics. Margaret Wheatley is the application of (business) management to (edu) leadership.
The only way any of them work for you is if you run into an executive leader who is a strong advocate of a particular theorist and thats their thing. Otherwise the vast majority of leadership tend to think of non-eclectic leaders as being myopic and one tool fixers.
