Its OK, I actually value your opinion, and I even value Walters opinion. Everyone that contributes to this forum, feels passionately to some degree about their opinion. We just have different points of view, different experiences and different opinions.

Here are some more opinions for you to ignore - taken from the ISR blog on best locations to save. Of course, what do they know. They only live and work in Switzerland, whereas you have lived and worked everywhere. You may wish to note what they say about Swiss income tax. But I guess you won't.

Not a lot of voices for Western Europe so far, so I thought I’d chime in. Although most of Western Europe rightfully has the reputation of low pay and meager savings opportunities, I have found Switzerland to be quite the exception. I teach at Zurich International School where 1st year teachers start out at $80,000, and with six or seven years of experience (like myself) are earning around $90,000. In addition, stipends for coaching, advising, tutoring and subbing are insanely generous; one could add an additional $10,000 in income just from “helping outâ€

Im not ignoring you Walter, i just dont agree with your forum posters as a source. I see one post that relates to taxes, and it was back in 2009. The most recent post from 2011, I disagree with as far as taxes and saving potential.

Even your sources are in disagreement over eating out being an income suck. So which one is right eating out if affordable or its not. The real issue isnt the eating out, its that even your sources are in conflict. Sources need to be congruent if theyre to be credible.

I do agree its an amazing country to live in, and offers a very high quality of life.

SighGuy...you simply (unfortunately) choose to disagree with any statement that differs from the one you have made yourself. I HAVE worked in ZIS...I can tell you that they DO employ from outside of europe. I can also tell you that I had more disposable income available at the end of the every month than any other place that I have worked...(Middle East and Asia). I could choose to eat out or I could choose to spend it on mortgages/expenses elsewhere. It was my choice. You can choose to ignore that if you wish...but, in your own words...that don't make it so!

Not buying it, we're just going to have to disagree.

Hialarious, Dave!

So I ask you once again to cite your sources.
1) Re the hiring needs and practices of major Swiss schools, I see the heads at fairs and I see how many jobs they advertise. I know for a fact that they hire non-Europeans (they've even hired some of mine).
2) You have someone else who worked at one of these schools who also tells you from direct experience you are wrong.
3) Five different contributors - all of whom are working or have worked in Switzerland - confirm Switzerland as a low tax region.

You deny all of this and use as your only "objective" evidence a cut and paste from Google that shows the MAXIMUM tax rates in Switzerland.
Please tell us where you are getting your unassailable knowledge from. Is it a person? Is it an institution? Is it the ouija board?

Sure

The tax information is published from the Swiss tax authority. I'll published government information over any number of anonymous forum posters any day of the week.

As far as Swiss schools hiring practices, a few do hire non EU passport holders, the overwhelming majority do not. Has a Swiss school sometime in all time somewhere hired a non EU passport holder, sure, it's the rare exception though not the general rule.

It's the maximum tax rate you quoted. Even you must be embarrassed by now. Rule 1: When you're in a hole, stop digging.
Please, tell us your sources for all this information you claim to have. Surely in your 20 certifications from Texas, there was one in research methodology!

SighGuy...this is not a question of you agreeing or not. I am telling you how it is to live and work in Switzerland based upon my experience of having done so. I do not need you to agree or disagree as I am not giving you my opinion...and please take my advice...this is when you make yourself look foolish.

@Walter

Its not the maximum tax rate its "THE" tax rate as provided by the Swiss Finance Ministry, if you have a MORE credible source id love to see it.

@lifeisnotsobad

I agree, my experiences in Switzerland are different then yours, and my experiences arent congruent with yours, and there is little room to reconcile between them.

...and how long did you live in Switzerland and where did you work? I suspect your experiences aren't congruent with mine as you have never lived in Switzerland.

This thread has gone awry with this Nut continuously putting in his nonsense when no one wants it. Now people just waste posts trying to tell him they are not interested in his rhetoric but he continues. So now we are focused on him and not the question of the best place for couples with children. Are there no admins to sensor him???
