Hi Dd,

at the moment, the salary is quoted in GBP, and you are paid in THB (at 60THB/1GBP). At the moment, for a 10-year person, you would get about 24,000GBP (before tax). Tax is 30%. There will probably be a 1.5% increase for next year...maybe even more, but it's been 1.5% for the past 3 years. Hope that helps.
Interesting comments re various BKK schools. Having worked at a few of them, the most enjoyable ie students, work load is Ruamrudee; And after being there a few years, the salary is pretty good (over B100,000 plus provident fund). Interestingly, the IB results are "usually" the best around.
They do not mention a housing allowance on their website; is there one?

Ruamrudee does have a housing allowance - B20,000, but its misleading. Being part of the actual salary, its taxed at 30%. So, effectively, the allowance is B14,000 - enough for a small local house/apartment if your lucky and not too fussy.
I have friends in Brunei- They say the school excellent but very British- only hire people from UK or OZ or NZ. Has good reputation in Brunei Ok salery and benifits but best in Brunei. Stay away from the other school- International school of Brunei heard some really bad things and it has negative reviews. Brunei is surronded by Malaysia and Malaysia is great. Go for it!
How does this stand today? Does anyone recommend the International School of Brunei? Can I save a lot of money?
Thanks

I had friends who worked there a few years back and from what they said they pay 20% of the full fee for each child, looking a the package, facilities and cost of living it was a good deal, but you have to live in Brunei a cultural backwater.
