Signing up with SA or ISS - just for the info?

Post by BobStrauss »

I've got a BA/MA in a field unrelated to education, but I am going through the process of certification right now. It will be finished a year from now. I have also just begun my first year at a K-12 international school, so I'm on track as far as experience goes.

My question is whether or not it would be good for me to sign up for Search Associates or ISS right now. I'd love to have access to databases of packages, and would be willing to pay for it. But do you think such a membership is worth paying for if it's only going to expire before I can really use it?

I've never used ISS, but I think the Search database is worth the $200 if you are serious about teaching internationally. There is a great deal of info in the database that can help you narrow down your choices.

I was happy using SA this past recruiting season. However, be aware that since you don't have a teaching cert yet you may be rejected as an applicant during their screening process.
