Investing while abroad

Post by Neptune »

Does anyone have any tips on investing while abroad? Are you investing from your home country or are you investing from where you're living? Is there a company that specializes in international teachers and their investments? Any help appreciated. We've got some investments at home but I think there must be a better way to invest than what we're doing which is the traditional route.
Thanks,

As PsyGuy mentioned, Vanguard is a good and very simple option. Living abroad you lose access to all tax-advantaged investments in the states (no IRA, 401k, 529, etc...). So, a simple target date retirement fund is a simple way to put money a way. If you're looking long term and don't really know how or want to mess around too much, index target date funds through Vanguard are a good option. Almost free expense ratios.
