IBO Award Questions

Post by BobStrauss »

Do most IB schools require new teaching hires to have IBO Award Level 1 certification at their level of teaching (PYP, DP, etc.)? Or are teachers often provided in-house or professional development stipends, or just pushed in general to finish IB programs on their own?

Also, is an IB award certificate at one level viewed as sufficient for a teacher who could potentially teach at all levels (K-12), or is it best for a teacher in that situation to hold IB awards at all three levels?

As for the certification itself, are there any online/summer programs to get IB Level 1 certified that don't break the bank? I've looked at Bethel's online program, which looks convenient, but it seems as if that would cost $5000 per level (PYP, for exaple), or $15,000 for all three.
