What is your recruitment scorecard for 2017/18?

Post by Carlson on the roof »

I'm at 25 applications, 6 interviews, which have led to 2 further interviews been set up. Married to a non-teaching spouse +1 and teaching a niche subject. Then again, the only numbers that really count are the number of offers! I'm resigned to attending a fair.

Would love to hear your scorecards.

I've applied to 16 schools and been contacted by 2 schools separately via SA. I've interviewed with 4 schools now, with 1 offer (turned down), 1 rejection, and 2 still in-process. I'm certified in two high-need areas and have a trailing spouse, but no children. I'm planning to attend a fair in January.

My wife an I applied to 20 or so schools (we are both elementary teachers). Had 4 interviews and 3 offers. But one of our top picks just sent us contracts so we signed can thankfully avoid the job fairs.

Oh, PsyGuy, I hope you don't get anything before having to go to a fair. Are you up for a date in London? I need to meet you!

Beware of anyone who advocates equestrian science as a high-demand subject.

@shawanda

I have a career appointment, there are only a few regions I would consider leaving for. I am registered for a fair, and will likely attend, though only casually.

@fine dude

Its in extremely high demand when its in demand. Ive never observed an equestrian vacancyy when advertised with a high supply of candidates.

50 schools, 8 interviews total. 4 led to offers (which I declined), 1 did not lead to an offer, and 3 waiting hear back on/conduct 2nd interview. I only have 2 years of experience and am certified in a common subject area. If I don't get offers from from the three I am waiting on, I will most likely attend Cambridge fair.

Not going to lie, feeling a little down but I plan on going to BOS for the fair. Interested in Western Europe and East Asia mostly.

I've applied to nearly 30 by sending a Search email, over 40 by clicking apply in ISS, and about 15-20 through reg email/Schrole. I have had 2 interviews. No offers. Lots of thanks, but no thanks emails.

Masters, 6 yrs exp, 5 of them overseas, Elementary/Kindergarten teacher, trailing spouse.

Starting to look pretty dreary out there. :/ .....I'll be at the London fair, but I am worried I am not going to be competitive enough. I've never had to go to a fair before, always got offers through Skype interviews.

About 90 applications, 4 interviews, 2 offers, 1 rejection, 1 follow up (second) interview.

Kinda waiting to see how the follow up interview goes before making any choices. I'm an NQT with no special skills so really have to spread the net wide.

I applied to 6 schools in mid November, but didn't get any requests for interviews until Dec. 3. From Dec 3-7, 5/6 schools contacted me for Skype interviews. I was amazed how quickly they came after not hearing from any of them for a couple of weeks. I interviewed with 3 of them but 1 school was particularly aggressive, scheduling a 2nd and 3rd interview on consecutive days. I accepted the job on Dec 10 and am thrilled. I work in a specialist position, BTW, with lots of experience in good international schools.

My first go at international teaching. I have been very picky about curriculum and location. Applied to 7 schools. Interviewed with 2. Got an unsolicited invitation to interview from another, which I turned down because it was absolutely not what I was looking for in any manner. 1 of the interviews had the start date change and it was much too early, so we both agreed it wasn't going to work, but I was asked to apply should any other positions open up. 2nd interview was with a WE school I felt was way out of my league. But was offered the position.
