TES
That is the Times Educational Supplement which has a forum for teaching overseas. It is useful, but posts are often deleted if at all critical. Worth checking out though..

CfBT
Yes - although I am not sure if she has completely left CfBT's employment . let's hope so..the new guy, I am sure, will be fair and honest in his dealings with teachers - that has been my experience of him over the past 11 years...

Yr query
Hi
I think that explaining everything at an interview risks your appointment, as you really have no way of knowing whether the interviewer will accept your situation or not. I would apply etc as a single person - which you are on paper anyway...then, once you are appointed, have your partner come with you on a tourist visa. Then, once you get to know everyone at your school and become more aware of the culture of the country you move to, you can judge for yourself how much to tell about your relationship. I think at an interview, it is too soon...
Also, why should you be telling your prospective employer about such personal stuff? Wait until you know everyone much better first!
Good luck!

Quiet family life
Hi,
Brunei is a wonderful place for families - peaceful, gentle pace of life, friendly - many stay for years and bring up their children here. It is a gem..I know what you mean about Singapore - i feel the same.
If you teach English, CfBT have a project in Brunei and are recruiting now www.cfbt.org
Or there are 2 international schools here too.
Good luck!

Non-married partner
Hi,
I am in SE Asia and the problem here would be that your unmarried partner would have no 'right' to a dependence visa. Thus it would be a case of having him/her on a tourist visa and having to exit and re-enter the country every few weeks...
A marriage certificate, on the other hand, would mean dependence visa , air fares, allowances etc -as pointed out by previous poster...I don't know how your situation stands, but I do know teachers here who have found getting married the most effective solution!!
Sorry not to be more encouraging....
