I've looked at both of their salary scales in recent months and ISM pays about 10k more per/year. From what I've gathered, health insurance, moving, professional development and flights are about equal. Brent Manila's housing is much more comfortable. ISM may look a bit nicer on the resume. However, there may be more leadership opportunities at Brent.

For some context, what schools does your friend think are too stressful?
I'd like to offer these schools as places that might fit the bill. Reasonable work loads, some savings potential, worthwhile travel opportunities, comfortable life style and professional work environment. Of course none of these are without their problems.
My 2 cents:
AAS in Sofia, BG,
Escuela Campo Alegre, Venezuela
Koc school in Turkey
Brent International School, Philippines
- INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, India
I've should have schools in Thailand or Vietnam on my list, but I don't know them that well.
Anybody agree/disagree?

Don't even think about it
First of all, I don't work there, but I do have friends there. They absolutely hate it. I realize it might be too late to warn you, but don't even think about working there.
This school is a train wreck! It only had 3 students last year. Nobody was actually teaching. The teachers were very unhappy. There wasn't a meeting where someone didn't call the director a liar, or cry.
However, the money is good. I guess a couple can save about 5K usd per month.

Istanbul is one of the most amazing cities in the world. Ancient and Cosmopolitan, East and West, I could go on and on with the cliches. Tasty and healthy food, friendly people, a beautiful country with varied and affordable travel opportunities. 4 seasons, without extreme weather. Of course I'd recommend it.
On the bad side, the school is poorly run. Western education philosophies are not valued (i.e. students earn grades) and teachers are not treated as professionals.
You won't be able to save very much money, but you will probably have the time of your life. I'd recommend it for two years if you are still moving up the ladder, but not for a lifetime.

Thanks for posting, as I am encountering a similar situation. I'm a high school counselor, and my wife teaches high school science. We have 3 years of successful international teaching experience. We have contacted around 15 schools, and attached cover letters, resumes, and letters of rec as a .pdf. We haven't heard anything back, other than automated responses. Kind of frustrating, but I'm sure something will come up.
