I thought I saw one of the schools in Busan listed positions on TIE. Worth a look.

They do pay their interns, although I can't say what. Housing is provided by the school and is nearby. There will be an online applications. I contacted the school directly, but I am not an intern just a student teacher. I have seen interns who work with a specific teacher and others who work with a grade.

If you have a car it won't be too bad, but its about 1.5 hours to central Seoul via public transportation. There are rapid buses from Seoul station and Gangnam that go to Songdo, but it is still a taxi ride from those stops.

Chadwick international school is a non-Christian school that hires interns. I live in the Songdo area, which is nice but a bit out of the way, and I am doing my practicum hours at Chadwick. From what I have seen I have only positive things to say about the school.

I am in the same situation (except my certificate comes in June). I'm just as over teaching ESL in Korea so this made me laugh a bit. I think you can at least find an internship position.

I first heard about this program through another public teacher in Korea. They completed the program while doing observations at their Korean public school. I thought that would we be a nice and easy way to get a certificate. However, as I thought about it more I realized what a waste of time that would be. It would eventually be relieved how I obtained my certificate, and I wouldn't have the best of references.

I still wanted to be an International Schools, but couldn't afford the traditional route of education. Instead I found an IB school to observe at in the morning while I work at a Hagwon at night. I know I won't be as viable as a candidate with experience, but at least I will some experience at an IB school.

I think Teacher Ready depends on the individual. I think a lot of people look at it as an easy way out of ESL, but for others it can be the beginning of a teaching career.

When do most IS schools start? My wife's contract ends August 21. I am guessing that it would be pretty borderline as to whether she could finish her contract before starting at in IS school.

I took three FTCE tests, General, Professional, and K-6. They were all very easy (maybe a few days of studying for each and you should be fine). I didn't study for the General, but used the CliffNotes book for the other too.

What school you are you at? My wife and I are searching for schools in Korea to shadow/student teach.

Ok so I need to find a hagwon for money, and an IB school for field work experience. I asked in another post, but might as well ask here. I am getting married and my fiance is also looking to do the same career path. What teaching specializations would allow us to each find positions? Neither of us will consider Math.

Could you recommended a course of action? My plan is to shadow at a real IS school so I can actually learn something. However, my application is still going to be ESL experience and an online training course. What can I do to get my career started?

What if I go to another country while working wherever I can find a position, and try to make contacts for a third tier IS school?

My friend did the teacher ready program through her public school in Korea. Is that a viable way to move up the teaching ladder? If you got experience after the Teacher Ready program would it really matter where the training came from? I realize you would learn more and get more contacts from an international school, but is it possible to build a career after shadowing through a public school?
