@PsyGuy, it doesn't matter what their degrees are in, it matters what their certs are in. If they have the course work, which they could get through University of Phoenix, then they are certified. I don't give advice out like yourself that asks people to fabricate themselves. Something you don't seem to have any issues doing yourself.

Really not worth risking your careers on a lie. I don't see why you couldn't work at a 2nd/3rd tier school in Thailand, since you are already there, and build up your resumes. If you're U.S. citizens you could try DoDEA, ESL is a needs area and male primary teachers aren't a dime a dozen for us.
Please don't resort to lying to get a job. Your integrity is all you've really got and PsyGuy, as you can see, doesn't have much of that.

As a DoDEA AP, we will email you first to schedule a time and interview. Yes there are some admin teams that will call you without advanced notice, but this practice is now heavily frowned upon. What we generally do is email you to see if you're interested in our location, if you are we ask that you give us a day and time to contact you.
So may lies and mistruths this PsyGuy spreads. He should come with a warning.

He doesn't work for DoDEA. He doesn't have a DoDEA "source" either. He's on the radar of this organization for the amount of misinformation and outright lies he spills. He has caused a lot of mishaps with new employees by giving advice that isn't truthful. What he doesn't know is that we've actually had admin meetings about this board and another board that I don't visit where he posts as Dave. He's had actual DoDEA employees complain about his misinformation. He is, in the truest sense of the word, a troll.
And yes, I care because he caused a lot of headaches of me this summer with one of our new employees by giving the person some seriously wrong info which caused this employee to finally just arrive yesterday when we hired this person in June.
And yes, I've sent out word to my higher-ups about this person because we almost lost this new employee because of the added stress that he caused them. And there are higher-ups looking for any new employee that matches his "description" and as of yet, none have been found system wide.
It's why I'll never, ever, give this site a dime of my money. This site loses any credibility because they allow this person to post here unchecked, and unbalanced.

And what I'm telling you is that the common term for it is interactive whiteboard. You don't call a chocolate bar a Hershey's bar, unless you are eating a Hershey's bar. If it's a Kit Kat, you're going to look foolish calling that a Hershey's bar.
You should come with a warning label, "Bad Advice Ahead, Listen to Me With Extreme Caution"...

No PsyGuy, you simply and as usual are wrong. SMART is only a brand that sells the interactive whiteboard, which is what it is, an interactive whiteboard. Calling it by it's brand name, unless you are actually using that brand, is foolish and makes you sound less credible.
And to the OP, check out DoDEA. ESL is a high needs area and your experience should catch the interest of an admin at a school. Also, Walter has a lot more credibility on this forum than PsyGuy does. PsyGuy seems to make his living as a professional Internet message board poster that has taught all over the universe the last few years. There isn't a place that he hasn't taught, and even though he breaks contracts and has no long-term history at any given location wants us all to believe that he's this highly marketable person. Ask yourself, what school, or organization is going to hire sometime that bounces around so much every year?

DoDEA doesn't always hire late, it just depends on when the job opens up and HR opens up the system for us to check applicants. You could be hired as early as June, or as late as November to start for the current school year. You should consider applying, SPED is a needs area for us and we're always hiring. In fact, there's a SPED position that just opened in one of our Tokyo schools.

Ah, yes, the law that just passed and the president just signed but doesn't go into effect until Jan 1, 2013. Like I said, you must have a horseshoe up your ass for luck. You defy all the rules, laugh in the face of laws and seem to get them applied to you before, you know, they actually become law.

PsyGuy claims to work for DoDEA, and also claims to have defaulted on his student loans. Which is interesting because we just hired a teacher who was disqualified for doing the same thing, defaulting on her federal student loans. So PsyGuy must have a horseshoe up his ass for luck, because he managed to make it through background, with defaulted federal student loans, and get hired by DoDEA, a federal agency.

A Master's degree is a Master's degree. Whether it is a Master's in Arts (MA), Master's in Science (MS) or Master's in Education (MEd). What matters is the coursework you took and what your Master's degree is in (your major). Each type of Master's has its own requirements to obtain, but one is no more regarded than the other.
If you want to teach at the Uni level you might want to look into a Doctorate degree. Uni jobs are less about teaching and more about researching and publishing. Sure there are adjunct positions that might take you on with only a Master's degree, but those are usually part time positions.
