Re: Bucharest?
I also had a problem with the school contacting me for an interview and then nothing. I know it wasn't my references because I was told they were excellent during my interview. They didn't bother to respond to my emails either. I guess they hired who they wanted but I'll never interview with the principal or director again.

Re: Neil Bantlemann Guilty!!
Yes, PsyCho, believing and knowing are two different things.
So perhaps and perish the thought that you might know more about the case before pontificating about it.
Not that such a course of action has ever stopped you before.
You haven't demonstrated any close knowledge of the case, so perhaps your tone-deaf posts make sense at least to you, but what you are posting is essentially pointless and elementary opinion given your lack of knowledge.
Again, not that such a course of action has ever stopped you before.
I suggest that you consider education to be a humanistic activity and attempt to view it as such.

Re: Neil Bantlemann Guilty!!
PsyCho's ham-fisted post notwithstanding, this is heartbreaking news and my sympathy goes out to the teacher, his family and the community.
I hope the family finds the strength to fight the decision and that ultimately decent minds will prevail.

Re: Schools Still Searching
As a rule, a good not for profit school should be spending 65-70% of its budget on salaries and benefits. If it's not then there's some explaining to do. The same goes even more with for profit schools. Sometimes you can download a school's annual report to see the information or ask about it at an interview.

Re: BCIS Meltdown
I don't know how anyone is going to be able to capitalize since BCIS is well respected and there are a lot of other schools further down the food chain. This is going to send a shiver through Beijing international schools and maybe other parts of China. I bet some won't make it.

Re: London Search Newbie Job Fair Diary...
By breathable air I think you're talking about China.
A lot of it is media hype. The good schools have air filtration and if you invest in some air purifiers at home you should be fine. There are some bad days but I have several friends in China working at top schools who say that they are fine, their kids are fine and they don't plan on leaving any time soon.

Re: Is it worth going to a Fair if you recently accepted a p
There's not much of a point in going, because going to a fair is for finding a job. Your recruiter will probably be not very excited to see you. I've been hired the night before the fair, and ended up not going, and made my travel arrangements so that it would cost me very little not to attend (just redepositing miles for the airfare).
If you got a job that you like, take the time to celebrate rather than clog up a fair.

Re: Sign now or wait?
The purpose of the hiring process is to get hired. If you like the school that's made an offer, then take it.
Job fairs aren't really all that fun, and if you already have a job offer that's a good fit for you there are much better ways to blow your cash. Save your money and use it for something that will make your life more enjoyable in your new location.

Difference between ISB and WAB?
Is there anyone who can provide details on the differences between ISB Beijing and WAB - school culture, admin effectiveness, salary/benefits package, and anything else worth noting?

Re: how many hours do you work a week?
I normally put in 50-55 hours/week, and up to 70 during really busy times. I work at what's called a Tier 1 school and don't mind. The work is rewarding, and unlike some posters to this thread I actually enjoy what I do instead of finding reasons not to do my job.

Re: WASC Attack
Actually, spelling does count. It's one of the basic amenities of your profession. And you're asking to be treated like a professional.
I find it hard to believe that there were no warning signs about the school from which you were fired until it happened. If there weren't, then I question your observational skills more than the school itself. Schools that summarily dismiss teachers will display a whole raft of other ethical and operational dysfunctions. That you were willing to accept them, or unable to detect them, gives me pause when considering your overall sense of judgment. From your previous posts, it looks like you were willing to overlook them. That gives me pause when considering your overall sense of ethics.
You maintain you have been so wronged, but in your actions you seem so willing to allow others to be hurt in the name of your own justice. It's hard not to conclude from your writing that you're not much other than an entitled, Grade A nutbar who has few professional or ethical qualifications in your desire for retribution.
