Sekolah Ciputra or Surabaya International School?

These two schools appear to be next door to each other and share some of the same facilities. The packages seem pretty similar as well. Does anyone have an opinion as to which is the nicer school to work for?

Purely from a financial perspective, a Master's makes sense. Most good schools pay a stipend of around $2000/year for those with an MA or MEd. Over a career, that would be upwards of $60 000, even factoring in the cost of the course.

Also, I believe it looks better on a CV than without one. As a bonus, I even heard some people learnt something from them.

Walter said "the ESF schools don't do PYP."

Apart from all ESF schools, Walter is correct.

Things are changing in Bandung now I hear. Decreasing salary and student enrollment. Quite a few long term staff are getting out. The golden days are over I would say.

Gastric diarrhea for example, is generally less preferable than the aroma of a drier, subtler poo. Likewise, across the different animal forms, the fresh poo of a mid to large sized canine is no doubt less pleasant than that of a slightly tangy, yet almost odorless rabbit poo.

It seems this school only hires through ISS. Does anyone know if it's possible to apply to this school and Pasir Ridge without being a member of ISS?

Valid point shadowjack. I'm not Australian, but having been there, I know expenses and taxes are quite high. But in answering Smurfs original criteria in leaving cost of living aside, Australia probably has the highest salaries in the world.

A simple public school teacher in Australia with 8 years experience earns over US$100 000/year, including retirement. Highly accomplished and head teachers earn closer to $115 000/year.

The main campus is in the outer suburbs of Jakarta and due to horrendous traffic, that's where you'll spend most of your time. JWA is in central Jakarta. The school will work you hard but pay is barely average by Jakarta standards. The facilities are great, if that's important to you. Almost all students are Indonesian apart from the children of staff.

He's saying he's a maths teacher from England, rather than an English (and) maths teacher.

Focussing more on the living costs of the country and the additional benefits package, rather than just earning a net amount will help you in finding a job that allows you to make the necessary repayments. Countries such as China, with a relatively low cost of living and some schools that pay high salaries, would be a safe bet. A lot of schools in the middle east also provide lots of benefits (e.g. utilities) and few options in which to spend your money.
