From the current subject guide: "The environmental systems and societies course is offered at SL only."

FYI -- Many QSI schools off the beaten track have very small numbers and many do not have high school. Skopje in Macedonia and Dili in East Timor both have eliminated their high schools. Just something to keep in mind. You can see what their offerings are on each school's website (linked to from qsi.org).

The school I am at doesn't offer it, but the other international school in the city does. It isn't as common, but it isn't unheard of. The kids really like it.

According to IB statistics, last year there were 7,007 students who took Environmental Systems and Societies. For comparison there were over 37,000 students who took Biology, over 23,000 in Chemistry, and over 17,000 in Physics. That should give you an idea of how common an offering it is.

It isn't in the ME, nor is it top-tier (3rd tier probably) -- but QSI (Quality Schools International) - Kyiv has an opening for French and PE. They will hire families with more than 2 dependents and they will hire those with no prior international experiences. Kyiv is one of QSI's better schools/locations.

QSI is definitely a mixed bag and you should research other threads for information on them.

They have an application on their site qsi.org that you fill out and email to them. They will respond almost immediately. They have events outside of recruiting fairs and will hire almost immediately if you are a fit. They will also be in SF -- they'll be listed under Slovenia -- that is where their head office is located.

My situation isn't exactly the same, but might ease your mind. We were signed up for both the London fair and the Cambridge fair. We forgot to cancel the Cambridge fair after deciding on the London fair. We had two days to cancel the cambridge fair without the fee. We decided to stay signed up just in case we did not land a job in London. We discussed it with our associate and basically said we were not canceling Cambridge in case we needed a backup. We asked him about this -- were we being selfish to keep the spot and cancel if we got the job in London. He told us to keep our place since we pretty much already had to pay the fee.

We ended up getting our job in London and canceling the Cambridge fair about two weeks before. Our associate made it seem like it was not a big deal. Since we paid the fee we could cancel without any further penalty. We got no communication from the people running Cambridge on our cancellation.

Granted, our associate wasn't the one running the cambridge fair, but he does run another major search fair,so if he didn't think it is a big deal, probably isn't. Also they said that there are always candidates that don't show up.

I'm sure you're not the first to cancel last minute and you seem to have good reasons. I would follow up with your associate about your reasons for the last minute cancellation and then not worry about it.

I would go for your top picks first. There will be space for your "sure things" after you have your top picks filled in.

Our experience in London was that even our "sure things" waited until Sunday to make the offer. The people who were getting offers early were either phenomenal candidates or the offers were from desperate schools who always have trouble filling their positions (and we really didn't want to work at a school like that).

We aimed high with our interviews and came away with a great job that we really wanted. We didn't spend too much time on the sure things, because we didn't really want to work there. This might have backfired if we hadn't gotten the offer we took because we were told we were second choices for most of our other schools. I still think I would have turned down some of the sure things and shot for other jobs later in the season had we not got our dream school offer.

Just my two cents -- everyone has different priorities and needs with employment.

If they are at a fair, they will need to abide by the fair's rules for response time. If however, you set up the interview independent of a fair, they seem to expect an answer immediately. You can always ask for more time and see what they say...

If you want your husband for the support, I'd definitely ask him to be there for you. These fairs can be beyond stressful and emotional support from your partner can be invaluable.

Does anyone have any information about the German European School Singapore? They only have one review here on ISR and it is pretty old and vague. I am particularly interested in the European division. I've seen their package information on Search -- I am more looking for information on reputation, standing among the international schools in Singapore, working conditions at the school, etc.
