I have been off and on the international circuit since 1998. A lot of what PsyGuy says is what I would write myself. Some of it is a bit out there - but I would not recommend throwing the baby out with the bathwater. If I was to weigh PsyGuy's advice - it would be >85 in favor. Just my 2 halalas (yo...

Morningcalm, if you have taught in the Catholic system and you are a practicing Catholic (or can show your confirmation, baptism, etc) then you have a good crack at the Catholic schools in different places. Google international schools + catholic You could also try someplace like Concordia in Shangh...

Hi Jonquil, you have the basics, minus the experience. So...where to get that. Look for second and upper third tier schools. Have you joined TIEonline yet? They have a ton of jobs posted - and often from schools which post on SEARCH and ISS as well (they save money hiring via TIEonline and get candi...

Sevaram, In the same boat. Have had several no thank you's but no nibbles from anywhere. At this point it doesn't mean anything. I had friends go recruiting two years ago and they applied to a bunch of places and never heard anything until late December. By then they had decided to stay where they w...

Noortje, since you are not qualified yet, many schools will not even look at you. They want to KNOW the candidate they are hiring is certified (and many countries require this). Also, by the time you have proof of this it can be too late to process all your paperwork to get you to the school in time...

It is very common for schools to use this time to build their candidate banks. Even experienced teachers, unless they are in shortage areas or have outstanding, incredible CVs, are playing the waiting game. As well, it seems there are an awful lot of "tentative" and "possible" po...

I just want to add that not all nations rush to follow the US in the race to the bottom/most cheapest denominator just because in the US cheaper must = better. My sources in Canada have grave doubts about online training for teaching (notice, not course work for SOME courses), but if you are going t...

Hi Psyguy Have to agree with IAMBOG. I am certified in 3 Canadian provinces and know people inside. Certification is a joint effort between the Provincial or Territorial Teacher's Association, the Provincial Ministry of Education/Territorial Department of Education, and the universities in that prov...

In my experience you won't get online certification in Canada. Fastest I have seen is a 1 year program from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. Also be aware that Ontario requirements are very similar to the US in recertification, etc...very regimented...unlike western Canada. However, you can look ...

Abqaiq is about an hour away from Dammam/Khobar. It is a smaller community. Aramco has their own compound there, a smallish school compared to Dhahran, but all the amenities. You might find it a little isolated if you like big towns, as there is nothing much to the town itself - a provincial Saudi t...
