@fke,
Exactly right...so we agree...it is an open forum...so I am allowed to challenge PsyGuy when he is clearly wrong, unethical or offensive. Similarly...if a whole group of people happen to feel the same way then we are at liberty to express our opinions.
@mantissa,
"I am just against open attacks of any sort"...this is an interesting web site to visit with that particular viewpoint.

@elfieldinho...
You disagree with me. Ignore me. Argue with me. Both valid options. Bleating and crying because I said things you don't like is more than a little pathetic. This is only exacerbated by the pompous, self-righteous tone adopted...and you wouldn't by any chance be telling me off would you?

@nikkor,
I do completely understand your comments and frustration and I apologise if at any stage I sound like I am whining. However, I don't think I am naive or stupid. Of course PsyGuy has not ruined my life, but I guess I also find it difficult to let his 'incorrect or unethical' advice go unchallenged. Perhaps that is a failing in me...but then I do spend my day trying to help and empower students to do exactly this. Admittedly, I do hope that they will go after some of the bigger issues in the world...

Dear Tater Tot...
Have you really read all of his posts?!? Have you taken a look at the thread on ACS Doha? Have you read his comments about women in South America and about the entire Middle East region? His unethical advice to new members of staff about to accept a job? If you have done those things and can still make that comment then I despair...

Dear psychris,
Please take PsyGuy's advice with the pinch of salt it deserves. The vast majority of schools are governed by policy when it comes to asking for time off. Some schools will allow for personal days, some will allow for unpaid leave and some will not allow for any of these. However, the terms for taking such leave (or not) will be laid out in the school policy. Asking for (or expecting) a 'favor' is not likely to get you in any good books. I would see absolutely no problem whatsoever in contacting your new Head of School, explaining your situation and asking what the school policy is regarding the possibility of taking such leave. At least that way you will be able to let your friend know sooner rather than later whether you will be able to attend.

Dear psychris,
Ask the school if you can take the days and accept that their response (what ever it is) will be governed by school policy. If your friend is a friend, he will completely understand that you now work in Beijing and that the school may or may not give you the time. Enjoy your new job, you will have a blast!

Dear PsyGuy,
Please don't confuse my message with that of Dunany. I believe Dunany was stating the truth about the school that he currently works at. It was completely 'on topic'. I don't believe he is the Head or making excuses, and he clearly cares about the school and community in which he works.
Mine is that you need help...which admittedly may be off topic...

Dear Dunany,
Thank you for letting us know the real picture at ACS Doha. To be honest I wouldn't feel the need to indulge PsyGuy any further.
My first reaction to this post from PsyGuy was to wonder why on earth ISR would allow this to remain...why doesn't the moderator do something about it. However, after reflecting further on this I realized that it would be far more powerful to actually withdraw his right to edit or delete his posts on this thread. In his comments about ACS he has been exposed for a (malicious) fraud more explicitly than at any other point during his contributions to this website. After all, nobody really cared whether he was in Sydney or not. However, I hope that every member of this forum, and particularly anyone who has in the past spoken up in defense of 'team PsyGuy', reads his contribution here.
I also hope that everybody recognises that what we are dealing with is more than a little sad. PsyGuy...honestly buddy, I think you need to seek help.
