Re: Reaching out to schools on Search and ISS
A link to an online professional website which includes philosophy, references, education, experience, PD, and achievements all wrapped up nicely wouldn't do any harm either.

I'm one hairy man though. My stubble is another guy's beard!

Re: Men's Beards
I never shave clean. Every couple of weeks I trim so that it's stubble. None of my schools have had issues with this. I hate shaving; my skin would look worse than the beard if I went clean!

OFS School just let 12 teachers go last week (they will work until end of school year).
Numbers and jobs are down island wide.
Lot of teachers looking at the situation carefully...

Re: Help Needed - PYP Question
IB are gathering EY peeps for guidance on EY for the future.
Our Pre-K does 4 units as opposed to 6 on the past experience and guidance of our EY teachers and PYP Coordinator.

Making the school links now UNCLICKABLE is not a fix!

A few months ago, the links to the school reviews in the weekly email started just directing to the main website index page (even after logging in).
Anyone else see this issue? Annoying, defeats the purpose of a weekly email listing the most recent reviews.

Re: Neil Bantlemann Guilty!!
I have two contrasting opinions on all this.
Indonesian justice and the whole incident. Court process and reasons why Bantleman was "proven" guilty were just absurd. Saying that all the protests against the arrest were evidence of his guilt. Bloody hell...
On the other hand there is no way in hell I will take to social media to publicly link my name to a child sex abuse case like a lot of my colleagues and friends. If he in some bizarre turn of events turns out to be guilty...yowsa...you don't want that connection..

Re: GEMS Singapore
It hasn't been opened for a couple of years, it's been opened for a couple of months (since September 14).
Haven't heard much from them here in Singapore since last school year where they were popping up everywhere around the island plugging their school for their September intake. We only lost one student to them.

If you still don't think it's a big deal!!!!

Indonesia are certainly going to put international schools through the ringer from now on after the child abuse scandal. Yes it might be reactionary but they have lost a lot of face with the JIS happenings.

Re: Australian teaching couple trailing three kids - advice
Any international school teachers in the "circuit" join Search (or ISS). They're the most reputable, I wouldn't join any other recruitment agency. Our Search rep has always been good and personable, you get yours depending on your region. We've never really needed him more than asking a few questions and letting him know where we got hired.

Re: Interview
Seriously, if you know your stuff then just relax, be you and let your experience and knowledge be known. Don't contrive up things you think they want you to say.
