Question for PsyGuy

Thanks for the replies. PsyGuy, I am not a teacher..I'm an administrator/specialist (think books!). Would I still need Canadian certification for Maple Leaf or other overseas Canadian schools?

Maple Leaf Schools - hiring policy

Do Maple Leaf schools only hire Canadians/North Americans? Do I stand any chance as a Brit with international experience?

Sherbourne, Qatar

Sherbourne is best avoided - average pay for qatar but lousy accomodation. A school that trades on its name associations. The Qatari owner is reputed to be a nightmare (but the same can be said for most). There are some better schools in Qatar you could try - QA etc. Check out the reviews.

Honesty

Actually I was worried about their honesty/intentions. I am quite happy to state my personal situation (and in fact they ask for such) but what I wanted to know was as a believing but fairly lax churchgoer (the big festivals only really) would I be finding myself joining a strident, big C Christian school with expectations that I attend church every Sunday, prayer meetings and faith discussions? My religious background is not like that at all - very low-key and not in the slightest happy clappy, read the Bible every day/week, or Evangelical/Baptist/Born Again. I would feel extremely uncomfortable if Concordia was expecting that from me. So the question remains...

Concordia IS Shanghai - how religious? What's the story?

I know this is a well regarded school and is clearly only interested in hiring Christian staff but what is the real deal? Are they born again, evangelical types? If you get in at this school are you obliged to join prayer groups, organised church visits, and seminars? There's being religious and being RELIGIOUS  and I am definitely not in the latter category. I would like to hear the real deal especially about their 'ethos' - any info would be gratefully received before I go ahead with my application.

QSI - UK teachers?

Can anyone clarify if QSI even consider hiring applicants from the UK? I am a (non-smoking) internationally experienced Brit with a trailing (non-teaching) spouse and infant. Do I stand a chance with QSI or are they firmly North American?

KAUST application process - background checks?

Getting a job at KAUST seems like an olympic struggle, 3 interviews so far and references taken and still not even a provisional offer. I was forewarned of background checks. Nothing to worry about - no criminal misdemeanors or anything but how deepdo these guys go and what are they actually looking for. I repeat, I have nothing to hide (I hope!) but why all the hurdles? It must be self-defeating, at this stage of the year both sides want a quick resolution so they can complete the process or move on. At this rate I may end up accepting another offer elsewhere rather than risk chasing the KAUST package to see it vanish if the application stumbles.

Myanmar International School / Myanmar teaching salaries

Anyone know anything about Myanmar International Schol (not to be confused with the International School of Myanmar). No reviews posted yet. The Principal is Richard Johnstone. Any idea what the salaries/package are like? When I asked them by email all contact was broken off. Any info would be useful just in case they do get back to me. Thanks!

Tough line

I am a fully qualified, UK Chartered and experienced librarian and it is very tough finding work on the international circuit. I think you are facing a tough ride on this one. Lots of luck, though.

URSULA MOCK/International School of Heiligenhaus

I understand this school has recently changed its name and has a new Principal. Is it still owned/controlled by Ursula Mock? Is it still to be avoided?
