I don't think I've ever had my dongle squandered before. I'm quite liking the sound of it, in an odd sort of way.

As you say, respect is earned, not given. The majority of posters on this board don't believe what you say (or at least are sceptical), because much of what you write is opinion dressed up as fact, half truths or so generic it could apply to nearly any school in the world. There is also an underlying "me, me, me, I, I, I" attitude to most of what you write, that makes you sound like a fifteen year old.
It's a shame, because you clearly are knowledgeable in some areas, but because you continually overstretch yourself, everything you write is tainted by scepticism.

Given PsyGuy's questions, I have to assume Wells don't use Search, otherwise we would have had a payscale cut and paste by now.
Thanks for the informative and well written posts, kuruzovich. I had never heard of Wells before, but I might actually end up applying next year. Obviously, I will do more research and look at other reviews, but I appreciate your response.

Do you really want a bunch of clothes that might sit in a box for two, three of fours years cluttering up your, possibly, small apartment. I'm assuming you'll go home sometime during your contract. Why not bring them back with you then, if you sense you might need them.
If you plan on travelling to Mongolia or trekking around the Himalayas during your Thaialns stay then you might want to consider bringing them, but otherwise, leave them at home. From Thailand it is warm to hot in all directions for about 1500 miles.
Don't use up valuable wardrobe space.

Vietnam, Laos and Indonesia are high on the list, but at 45 I think my ideal route to retirement would Thailand, starting next year or the year after. Do that for three or four year and then Malaysia, preferably Penang, but also KL. I'd stay in Malaysia and retire there.
I've already covered China (as a student), Japan and Taiwan (ESL), Canada (as a business owner and teacher) and Egypt (currently).

In international teaching the majority of teachers are working their way to either western europe or Japan/Hong Kong."

That's hilarious. Keep 'em coming PsyGuy. You should do stand up.

Really? I'm not and most of my colleagues aren't. I would say most want to end up in Southeast Asia. I don't think many are working towards Europe, where they would likely end up in the same financial situation they were in North America. Mind you, Eastern Europe is somewhat appealing.
Out of interest, have you been to Doha, PsyGuy?

Agreements Between Bangkok Schools
I read here, I think, that schools in Bangkok have some kind of agreement that when teachers in Bangkok move from one school to another, then they are considered long term resident and put on local contracts.
Is this something all schools follow, or an agreement between just a few? I had planned to work in a lower tier school until such a time I had enough experience to move up the ladder. Would this reduce me to a local hire?
