When I worked in Korea, it was pretty much caucasian only. Sure you might find a few good schools here and there that would hire you, but in my experience the racism was fairly open. Even some of the postings from recruiters and schools was very blunt.
But as others have said, there are exceptions to the rule. If it interests you, go for it!

my wife and i are very interested in CIS. on search it lists beginning salary as 59000 singapore dollars as starting salary, with housing about 20000 (USD) and flights home annually about 1200USD.

is this accurate at this time? the flight allowance seems a little low to me...
i'm assuming that housing figure above is for 1 teacher - correct? a quick look at propertyguru it seems like we should be able to get a fairly decent place...

does anybody that actually work there, or have recent experience care to comment?

i found it pretty good, though sometimes at the last minute schools that you might be interested in back out. i don't know if it's still at the end of january or not, but it's a pretty late-occurring fair, so depending on school needs and recruitment, the school of your first choice might not be there...

it was worth it for us because we got a few interview requests before we got there, and a couple while we were there. we ended up with a nice contract with a school. the rest is history. good luck!
