Re: Recruiters wary of teachers with admin aspirations?

Weak admin will be horrified. Take this as a blessing that they are repelled by the threat you pose to them. The stench of fear on them should tell you all you need to know about them and how you never want to work with them.

Re: Incomplete list of countries where tuition waivers are t

While I understand the motivation behind this list, please, all, remember that the greatest tax on child tuition is that most teachers with school aged children never get interviewed for the job at all.

Re: Hungary or School Limiting Expat Contracts?

Eww. Ultimate sketchiness. That school is letting Budapest and Hungary down by such actions; it's going to turn the school into nothing more than a three-year stag . destination for international teacher rejects.

Just move back to California; it's basically Mexico these days anyway.

Re: Trailing Spouse

In response to question number 1, YES. You are not in Kansas anymore girlfriend! All of a sudden "reputable" schools may no longer be interested in you because of your life choices. Dolphin tattoo on the back of your neck? No problem at Tier 1 school in Asia or Europe! Dress to impress and 20 years of experience in IB - but with one or more dependents? Fight to get a posting at a Tier 3 school in Africa. The only good news? You don't have kids yet! Each one is another nail in your coffin in international education recruitment. International schools are looking for cheap. Cheap of quality and cheap of no quality will do over expensive of any sort of quality.

Schools that Don't Hire Certain Nationalities

As this is not a review as much as a factual statement, I am wondering if those responding to this thread can provide names of schools that you know for a fact simply don't hire certain nationalities. For instance, International School of Paris will simply not hire you if you don't have the right to work in France or EU Nationality, "It is essential for all applicants to hold a nationality of one of the European Union countries, or valid French working papers."

Yet, not all schools will state this so explicitly on their websites, but you may know that it's the policy just the same. What schools or school groups just won't hire which nationalities?

Cambridge or London Reviews/News?

Does anyone have thoughts, reviews, news, or updates from the fairs in London and Cambridge over the past week? Lots of talk about Bangkok, not so much about London and Cambridge.

Re: Progressive Education Meaning

Critical Theory Has DESTROYED Primary & Secondary Education. This is what "they" call progressive.

Re: Being good looking vs ugly

Finally a post worth commenting on.

Oh PLEASE! Of course it matters. But if you are living clean, it's really hard to be unattractive in your 20s and 30s. Sadly, so many teachers are pure trash these days - they smoke, have tattoos, are ignorant brats, etc. Thus, massive uptick in unattractiveness since the 90s. If you can somehow have it together today, the world is your oyster. Few discuss this.

Trends for 2018-2019

I am so sick and tired of the stale topics on here this summer. Let's look ahead. What are your thoughts on trends for the upcoming recruiting season and/or international primary and secondary education in general?

I will throw in my two cents first: I think the big story this year is that fewer folks will be leaving their jobs because, let's face it, scum rises to the top, and there is a lot of scum out there right now who know they ain't getting a better gig after this one, so they might as well HODL.

These are fun. Let's do more of them. When I saw China, though, I vote, no!
