Skills and Responsibilities of a teacher?
I'm not sure how to word my skills and responsibilities as an elementary school teacher on an application. I'd appreciate people's suggestions here. I'll pick those applicable.

Teaching philosophy pointers?
Are there any points, buzzwords, style, etc. recommendations to put in one's teaching philosophy these days? There must be some 'musts'.

When will age be a factor for hiring teachers/admin?
Is there an age when recruiters start to shy away from hiring teachers? Does the same apply to hiring administrators/leaders at any level?

Salaries for junior administration
I'm curious about salaries posted at Search Associates. They show ranges depending on your education and years of prior service. Where would the salary of a vp, department head or PYP/MYP/IB coordinator fall? Could one expect a better benefit package for these positions?

I've never heard of a CPIP check so I've Googled. When I return to Canada I often get an up to date police check for myself for the next round of recruiting. I apply for this at the local police station of the town where I live. There are a couple of different types I can get. I remember having a problem with obtaining one as you need to reside in the town at that time or something.
Shadowjack, which police check do you get for yourself? It's a shame the RCMP can not provide one that covers all of Canada. I think Interpol should get in on this. I know they would not have access to all police files but, someday, and even now it might hold some weight in many recruiters minds.

What to put in your teacher intro video
Some people make a short video of themselves as part of their portfolio.
1. What do people suggest be said in such a video?
2. What would be a good location or background for the video?
3. What should be a maximum and minimum length?

Re: Principal training in Canada?
I've read that teacher pay in BC is not that great. I'm assuming the person who told me was comparing it to salaries in Ontario. But who knows if it is right. I also wonder about teaching in the other provinces.
Whey do teachers have to jump through so many hoops to teach, especially in their home country? Do lawyers, police, doctors, engineers, architects have to do go through similar processes? I bet not as much!

Re: Principal training in Canada?
I'm certified by the province of Ontario. I think that if there are desperate times BC and other provinces will relax their regulations to get teachers in.
Actually in Ontario there is a shortage of supply teacher and they are hiring lots of unqualified people to supply right now. I bet it's at the same rate as qualified. Unfortunately there are no permanent contracts to be had without supplying for years and years and years.
Thanks for posting the BC links, can't see your handle right now.

Re: Principal training in Canada?
I would be very interested in investigating teaching, principal and vice-principal contracts in BC.
1. Are they available in more populated areas such as Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna?
2. Does anyone have any links to check for vacancies or for applying?
Cheers!

Contact schools through Search only or also directly?
If one sees a vacancy at Search Associates should only only contact the school by clicking through their page at Search or should one also contact them through their posted email address or other email addresses at their school website?

Re: Preexisting medical conditions/travel insurance/school c
That's great news Mamava.
My concern would be insurance companies sharing information with other insurance companies on past illnesses and so premiums being very high or being denied coverage. I worked in a school years ago where an elderly teaching couple was denied health coverage. The school didn't tell them until they had been working a few months that they were walking around with no health coverage at all!
