I don't anyone but you would opt for that as a likely answer.
> Dictionary terms arent finalized based on popular vote.
No, but they reflect what is a word is thought to represent in society, unless it's a technical term. If nobody used the word in a certain manner anymore but in a different one, the definition would eventually change accordingly.

With the four years he wouldn't be at the bottom. With ghosting he is back at the bottom with 0 years.
It's resetting your career, where you could have been 4 years further down the path to where you want to be.
> Yes its the difference between one step on the PASS its not the difference

You give 2 points for 4 years of experience (1 point per 2 years, maxed at 10). Actually 2,5, as you award 0.5 for international experience as well. And perhaps an extra point for curriculum experience or another 0.5 for documented extra-curriculars during those 4 years.
The difference between being an 'Entry level IT' and a 'Career IT', or between a 'Career IT' and a 'Professional IT' is only 2 points, so those 2.5 or 4 points are at least one step up the ladder on your way to what you call 'Master IT', a ladder with only 4 steps.
> He might go to a tier 1 with or without it.
He might, but the point is that his chances will increase with those 4 years.
And likely he won't be going straight to a Tier 1 in either case, but he might go to a tier 2 school with those 4 years on his CV. With 0 years, he will most likely not.

It has happened when reference #2 couldn't be reached, and reference #3 was contacted.
Not very likely, but not outside the realm of possibilities.
But even if they would check 2 references, it would still take at least 4 years before you can add in that ghosted school.
> Im claiming its not a dumb thing to do.
We disagree. I think it is dumb.
Those 4 years matter, especially since you tend to start at the bottom, so if you can get into a decent school because of that experience, you won't have to start out at the bottom AGAIN, and avoid another bottom school.
Just out of curiosity: how many schools have you ghosted yourself @PsyGuy?

Do you think (to keep it closer to home) that any of the ITs that enjoy their job would answer the question "What kind of work do you do?" with something like: "Actually, I don't work. I'm a teacher, but I enjoy it, so it's more a hobby that I get paid for"?
No, they will answer: "I'm a teacher".
Those dictionary definitions of 'work' don't exist in a vacuum, they're what the overwhelming majority people think 'work' is. That you disagree with them is irrelevant to everybody but yourself.

You though I actually meant for you to literally tell all the people that enjoy their jobs that they're not working?
Rest assured, it was just a stylistic device. No need to go outside and talk to people.
Well, your belief is immaterial to everyone but yourself.
What 99% of people will say is that if you perform agreed upon tasks, and you get paid an agreed upon amount of money for it, it's work, even if you enjoy it.

OP was asking about salary.
Still, with 64K, you can save a whole lot, 20K+ or 30K+, depending on lifestyle, more if you're very frugal.

So refreshing when a school just publishes their salary scale – many schools are secretive about it, and some don't even share it with their own staff. It are of course usually the high-paying schools that don't try to hide it.

Could be.
Not all ISs are on Search after all, and the profiles I have are from a few months ago.
The average might be lower actually, as the really crappy and low-paying ISs tend not to join SA, but instead recruit through other channels, although some of those don't really deserve to be called an IS. Not that the OP will end up at one of those though, I hope.

That's how you try to get a job? You don't give them references, but just tell them to trust you that you're a good employee?
Do you usually add that you obtained this information from 'reliable and trusted sources', but that you will not supply them with these sources?

I didn't come up with those definitions of what work is, dictionaries did (well, the people that work there).
It's sad to hear that you think people can't enjoy their work - you should really quit your job and try to find one you would enjoy.

Re: Salaries in UAE
The average salary at the UAE schools listed on Search with 8 years experience and a MA is (1440,000/30=) 48,000 USD. With your experience you might come in a bit higher than that at some schools, but definitely not at all, as most will have a cap as to where you can enter on the salary scale. You will probably aim for the better schools, so if you get into those you will start higher than this average. The highest salary I found was 60,000 USD, the lowest 37,000.
Just so you get a sense of the range, the salaries I found were (x1,000 USD):
60, 45, 45, 52, 53, 57, 40, 41, 48, 43, 60, 56, 37, 38, 48, 48, 48, 49, 49, 47, 45, 45, 48, 50, 45, 53, 52, 39, 54, 45
