@ringler24

I don't know about being out of the classroom...hope someone else responds...you would think they would go by qualifications and experience(s).

The thing about DoDEA --they usually make their interviews/offers very late in the summer/fall...so this year late or next year late could happen...for you a good thing I would guess...you may have the flexibility...for others...could be pins and needles next year as well...

Take care...

Hello,
The USPO will forward your mail.

Forwarding Service (from the website)
"Whether you’re moving temporarily or permanently, you can have your mail forwarded for any period from 15 days up to 1 year. (After the first 6-month forwarding period, you can extend it for up to another 6 months.) With a few clicks and a $1 charge to your credit card (just to verify your identity), your mail will follow you."

When were international, they only forwarded 1st Class mail to our current school. We had a home P.O. Box # then since we didn't have home mail delivery anyway. In the summer we stopped it, and then put in a new request in August. Of course, anything we could manage electronically, we did. In this way we could keep our state auto license plates and so forth...also our home of record remained the same...

An option to consider...

Small window for some...

Another call was made to DoDEA today.

Applications submitted after May 1st will be considered for next year (SY 13/14).

If high needs positions cannot be filled from this year's pool, applications past the deadline will be looked at.

Cheers!

You pay for airline tickets in advance? (Shudder!) And then be told what...you didn't buy the right class ticket, etc.?

Stay away!

If they are so disorganized now, think what it will be once a teacher hits the ground...

@PsyGuy
Thanks. I cut the post to the bare bones of the conversation...it was pleasant, but direct.

We are certainly open to an interview/offer, but are anticipating that the following year is more likely.

We're young, we'll adjust... :lol:

Hello...
Made the call to DoDEA.
I asked if my application could be changed/considered for SY2012-2013.
I was told the application deadline is over and new applications will be considered for the next year. I asked if Special Educators might be considered. The answer was no...the application quota is filled, and no other applications will be considered.
I asked and said, "To be clear -- there is no chance my application will be considered?" Answer -- "Correct."

Well, darn! If anyone hears anything else, please post. Sometimes (as we know) it does matter who you talk to.

@ringler
Yes, will post any news...
How did you change your application to SY2012-2013?
The drop down box has only 2013-2014 or 2014-2015.

@PsyGuy
Yes, degeed and certified...presently teaching Special Programs for students with multiple and moderate to severe disabilities...

So, I guess I/we will call tomorrow and see if we can be sure to be considered.

Thanks, All!

@ autumnrain
Yep, you sure created a lively thread!

@WeDoDude
OK...Applications completed (our part). Now the waiting game. We sent an e-mail and asked to be considered for SY12/13. Maybe my SPED endorsements will be in high demand.
So, will there be a chance they will look at the aps for this coming year?

Although we like our present district/jobs, a friend of ours just commented, "It's hard to stay down on the farm once you've seen Paree!"

How about an Arab one?

My favorite is an American quotation, "It is as cruel to bore a child as to beat him."

Dear WeDoDude,

OK...aps completed, still need two references to respond...they are my current supervisors...I'm thinking of taking them a hard copy, scanning them and uploading them to complete the process/application. (?)

Next? E-mail and call HR and ask for us to be considered for SY12/13?

Also, I guess we need on hand official sealed transcripts and employment verification forms?

We have passports...will they need to be changed to official passports at some point?

Lastly...patience on our part!!!
Thanks for all your help.

Dear WeDoDude,
OK! Updated aps are looking pretty good, however, one place in the DoDEA website says this ap will be for 2013-14 and another place says we accept applications all year. (?)

The application requests that all transcripts are attached as one document. Ummm, how exactly is that done?

Appreciate any help. Thanks.
