That's exactly why, as I wrote, I always check the important numbers once I got closer to shortlisting a school.

You can plausibly explain three 2 year contracts perhaps, saying it wasn't a good fit or whatever, but if you try to explain five the school will likely think you're just coming up with excuses to hide the fact that you're a tourist teacher.
Nothing wrong with a tourist teacher btw, but higher tier schools generally won't be interested in hiring those, as they prefer teachers who can stick around, and with five 2 year contracts behind you they will not think that that's going to be you.

Agree. But teaching couples without kids can still save well though at the higher paying schools, such as the ones in Zurich or Lausanne and a few others elsewhere in Switzerland.

Most information is not so far from the truth that you can't use it all to get an impression, but I've always checked the important numbers once I got closer to shortlisting a school.

Plenty of ITs in developing countries go to resort hotels to relax by the pool though. I think about half of my colleagues did this at least twice or three times a month when I was in a similar country.
But that doesn't mean that you should have an incident let this decide this for you. I wouldn't really feel uneasy about accepting a job in Sri Lanka right now if I like any of the schools there, just because of the recent bombings.

The DR is definitely unsafe though, but so are some suburbs in the US.

Read reports, let those guide you, but be aware that if ten reports mention someone they know was robbed, it could have been the same guy in all those stories. And they don't mention all the people they know that weren't robbed. I do know from friends that lived in the DR that all of their expat friends there that have stayed for 5 years or longer were robbed at some point during those 5 years. But I'm not sure how many friends they have and how careless they are, so it might not be a good sample size.

For me, the DR might be just a bit too unsafe right now (but not by much). If I was single, I wouldn't worry, but with kids it's different.

Re: Comment

No 'interpretations or impressions', but experience, research, and reliable and trusted sources. Only data matters.

No, not if it happens once or twice, (or even three times, especially if it's at the start of your career), but FIVE 2 year-stays in a row will definitely hurt your chances, as almost all schools will expect another 2 year stay if they hire you.
And with five 2 year stays, I don't think you would be very believable if you blamed all of those departures on the IS not valuing you, or 'lack of fit'.

Re: Reply

Do you think an IS wouldn't expect a candidate with FIVE 2 year contracts in a row to just do another 'two and go'?

Troll alert!!

And so far I've found that the information of the SA profiles of most schools is fairly accurate (apart from savings potential, as an individual's lifestyle has such a big impact on that), but it's always smart to check up on the numbers of things that matter to you, since there are some schools where their profile info is way off.
Also, sometimes the info on the number of 'international' students can be off because some ISs will count nationals who also have a foreign passport as international, and some countries will just sell their passports to any rich parent that want their kid to attend an international school that requires a foreign passport for admittance.

Makes sense, since you don't like:
- leadership
- IB

Maybe if they hand out a glossary with all the IB terms, it would be ok though?
