When we started out 25 years ago I would have killed to go there.

The pollution was unbelievable!! Everyone was wearing masks... Not good.

It's a a strange little school.

If you feel like taking a big risk, than maybe go for it.

My past 5 years have included teaching awesome kids, living in a new compound, taking trips to the Holy Lands and Africa, and saving some cash.

Saying that I would only work at 1 or 2 schools. ASD or Doha college.

Living here is a lot like Deadwood SD in 1869... its a boom town. Life is what you make it.

The best thing we ever did was to buy our house,(for the summer) no mortgage, no loans. Just saved the cash and bought it.

We also now have another rental house. We do have a VUL policy which should be non-taxable, it is very expensive though.

They say you should self invest in the cheapest Vanguard funds, we didn't do that and use our own financial advisor. When the markets are up I love him in 2008 and 1999, not so much!

Still wouldn't bring my kids there.... unless they are young. MS and HS non-speaking Spanish kids don't do well there.

Staying in Qatar for our 5th year. At ASD, love the school. Like Qatar well enough.

Money can be blessing or a curse. Quick side note, I went to check on the local nursing home for my dad a couple years ago. The woman in-charge asked how much the old man had in his bank account. I gave her the number and she said, "That's too bad because we will take it all and then its free."

My financial adviser would tell you I need about 2 million! At 4% that is 80,000 grand a year in the year 2025. Not sure I am gonna make it!
