you could search for the terms and find lots of info on them.
they are simply loose terms that group schools into general categories of quality, there is some disagreement over what they actually entail - i think psyguy will have a post somewhere wherein he/she outlines what they constitute as a T1, T2, etc... there is also a list of supposed T1 schools as well. (search for it). so the really well-known, reputable, stable schools are generally T1. but you might find a school you really like that might be considered "worse" but if it works for you, then it shouldn't really matter. i look at it similar to the ivy league schools, or div. 1 and div. 2 schools in the u.s.
as for the certification - if money is no object and you want to do it, go for it. but likely, you will have to take the introductory PD anyways, if you go to a school that utilizes the IB. experience actually teaching it is more valuable than the cert you have to pay for. you'd be more competitive choosing another PD - maybe spec ed, or whatever certs/PD HS teachers do.
good luck!

your next school - wherever it may be - is the one you will know the best during your acquisition of your masters...i might be missing something, but in all likelihood, THAT will be the school you'd have a best chance transitioning into admin in...i mean, you might not love it, but by then you'd have seen the inner workings of the school and be working on your leadership approach through your masters. it would seem to me much easier to stay, if there was a potential for an opening. your new school will know you're taking it, and have to assume you will want that pathway eventually. as PG says, just because you have the paper doesn't mean you'd be ready for it necessarily.
but good luck!

i would love for there to be continued growth in terms of non-traditional "fairs" or opportunities that don't necessarily involve the big recruitment agencies.

Re: Moving belongings/school books to the UAE
i never had a problem with bringing "controversial" items in or out of the country but like others have said, you'll likely lose it. things that will be taken away include israeli stuff and anything that looks like you're going to distribute it in large quantities, e.g. bibles, missionary crap...
books could be flagged and certain sections redacted with black marker...but i never had this happen. chances are if they get through, and you use any controversial (read israeli or LGTBQ) stuff in class, you'll hear about it ASAP. the maps in the UAE are sold preloaded with a black mark where israel normal is, and any book used by schools is to be approved by the government/ministry before use...
may i suggest scanning whatever you want to bring over instead?
good luck!

Re: What to put in your teacher intro video
i was pretty close with my last director and he talked to me about teachers using qr codes to their online portfolios and videos of them teaching, doing creative stuff with their CV and resume. his is only one opinion but he had instructions for the HR to flag any that had interesting and creative things in them so he could review them. there weren't many but for certain teachers, it can be a huge plus....art teachers, PE, ICT - there were all examples from these areas that had "strange" CVs.
the director before that was a nutter, loved only teachers from the UK, and hated anything PYP, though we were a "pyp school."
anyways, there are varying opinions on it. whether this particular HR person responsible for the appplicant emails actually did what he asked is another thing....the director got those emails sent to his inbox anyways ;)

Indonesia - savings potential?
Hi,
Just wondering what savings potential is like in Indonesia? I understand it might vary by region. Also, any insight into what life is like there for expats, specifically married with 1 young (less than 5)? How friendly is the country to live in for foreigners?
I also posted this on the paid side so you can be more specific if you can!
Thanks in advance!

so in that case, do you contact before you proceed? or is any head's word better and more reliable than a potential teacher's reasons/excuses or whatever?

Re: What to put in your teacher intro video
i have to say, unless you're really actually awesome and using a digital CV or portfolio, there is no reason to put this in there where a recruiter can see it.
in general, schools don't ask to see videos, and they will tell you if they want one.
good for you, but holy canoli that's a waste, not to mention it could really be a negative (if you're actually not that great!)
best of luck!

Re: Anyone have experience with being Jewish in the ME?
as another example of possible quagmires, when i got my blood taken and fingerprints done when i was in UAE, the lady taking my blood was required to ask my religion. i said other. an arab colleague later told me that i should have just said christian to forestall any problems. he said if there is anything the religious 'over there' dislike more than jews, it's atheists'.
i understand the faith-demand that you not hide your belief but i suppose i understand the will-to-live demand more. plus, haven't you seen the jack black snl song 'hornets nest'? come on! j/k.
but really, you decide to live there it likely won't be a problem. the biggest problems i ever heard of was someone going to israel and being detained for a while. i think there is a way to go through jordan actually, and not get a stamp...i could be wrong about that though. anyways, maybe it's akin to being muslim and visiting the border of the u.s.?
best of luck!

Re: Anyone have experience with being Jewish in the ME?
i concur with the stamp in the passport thing.
even if you are not jewish - and there's no reason to ever say that you'r jewish, christian, muslim, or anything else - and you have a stamp from israel, you WILL be questioned and possibly detained for a while. i didn't know nay jewish people when i was in UAE but i cannot imagine they would be treated the same, seeing as how all the maps and textbook maps had israel completely blacked out with permanent marker!
if you're real keen on going ME and are jewish, go but don't ever say you're jewish, nor should you go to israel and back unless you want serious hassle.
good luck!

Re: Exodus from Germany
where i am (country bordering germany) it's about 1/3 of one person's salary for rent, and a little more when factoring in utilities. you can find cheaper for sure, but - not sure how it works in germany - then you have to pony up 3-4 months rent for security deposit. i think if you're planning on coming to europe, you really need to have a bit of savings and money banked to enjoy it and appreciate it. that's only my opinion. i do love it here however, and there is a lot to be said for the trade-offs.
