As part of a teaching couple and veteran of two fairs I know how you feel and feel it every time we want to change school.

You have to do the research when you want to apply to a school with just one position. Will you make do on one job? Will the school consider your spouse to be a go-to substitute teacher. I believe it is very rare for a school to just make up a position for a spouse just because they want you so bad.

I think as you go down the quality of schools, you may find that they are more flexible. Leading up to fair two years ago, there were maybe 2 or 3 in Search database with jobs for both of us but when we got there we had maybe 7 or 8 interviews.

It's a waiting and . game.

The weather forecast for Singapore is always cloudy and rainy on any website but rest assured it's not always the case.

HKIS will question your spiritual journey, so be prepared. After interviewing with them I came out of it with just a weird impression of the place. Lot fo cliquey-ness.

I've been to SAS campus many times and know a lot of people that work there. They're doing good stuff. I would choose SAS. You would have to live near their campus, which is far from the madding crowd, but that's a good thing.

It's probably different in the states but the principal of an IS is the first person I tell coming into the last year of our contract that I would be looking around. If you're joining up with Search it's pretty much essential you get your current principal to give you a confidential reference on Search.

What's the latest on ISP? Always got good things circulating about it.
Any details and/or updates since the last reviews on here?

It's a Lutheran school to be exact.

It's....weird. We interviewed with them, my wife was asked about her church going schedule.

I get the feeling there are a big group of teachers there who haven't left in years and feel very comfortable there. A friend of mine who taught Chinese got a job there and she felt very uncomfortable for the first while, nobody was polite to her.

Anyway, I wouldn't interview again with them as they just don't sit right with me. Not bitter or anything!! Kinda glad I didn't get a job there!
It's been silent for me. I already see about 4 positions posted that I'd be seriously interested in (including my #1 school). Would love to hear from someone but I was thinking (hoping) that it may still be a little early for that.

Has anyone else using Search been contacted by schools for next year?
You should contact the school! Don't wait for them to contact you!

Will they ever turn ON the html code on this board to make the quotes turn up properly!!??

They probably found your website, which looks like it was made by a grade 5 student in Frontpage 10 years ago, and saw the gripes and complaints and excuses you pull off on pretty much every school you've been in. Entertaining reading if it wasn't true so it just makes it a sad testimony on your professionalism.

Your website is a PR nightmare for you and I would recommend you remove it and burn the server it is on.

I think job fairs are archaic and a waste of time and money. Search and ISS are hanging on to this sort of model with a firm grip. If most principals and directors actually grasped technology and Skype interviews then job fairs would cease to exist.
I mean even the process when you get there, paper folders, sign up interview process, it's just old-school and needs a revamp or needs to disappear quickly!

You can worry all you want but it won't help!
Try to chill out, keep an eye on schools positions, go to school websites if they don't have positions on Search.

And at the end of the day, it's also a matter of luck if the right school with the right positions are looking for teaching couples like you.

We'll most likely be going to BKK this year, I don't feel like stressing out. Just yet!

Yes, Singapore IS have a great mix due to work demographic of parents and that Singaporean nationals aren't "allowed" to enrol in an IS. Or something like that.

A lot of lower tier international schools have a high percentage of special needs anyway as the higher tiers schools can pick and choose as they wish.
